  • Start of production set for early 2028
  • A dedicated production site for assembly of Liebherr earthmoving machine driver’s cabs
  • A modern site in the heart of Europe

Start of production at Liebherr-EMtec Nambsheim, a new Liebherr Group production site in Alsace, is scheduled for 2028. The submissions of the construction permit application marks a key milestone in the realisation of the site and underlines the Group’s continued commitment to the region.

An application for a construction permit for the new Liebherr-EMtec Nambsheim production site has just been filed. The project marks the beginning of a new phase in the Liebherr Group’s industrial development in France. It reflects a clear vision: strengthening strategic independence, implementing modern production technologies, and reinforcing regional ties. The investment in the new site exceeds 100 million euros.

Assembling driver’s cabs for Liebherr’s earthmoving product segment

At the Liebherr-EMtec Nambsheim site, the Liebherr Group will consolidate its expertise in the assembly of operator cabs for earthmoving machinery. In the initial project phase, the facility is designed for an annual capacity of 10,000 cabs. The production site is being developed based on a modern organisational concept featuring autonomous production cells, agile logistics, automation, digital traceability, and data-driven process management.

The site is scheduled to begin operations in early 2028 and will employ more than 200 people. Its organisational structure is production-focused and agile. Furthermore, it is planned to serve as a competence centre for the earthmoving machinery product segment, centralising strategic expertise.

Commitment and modern vision in the heart of Europe

The Nambsheim business park was selected due to its advantageous location and proximity to the Liebherr Group’s established sites. Equally decisive were the constructive cooperation with the responsible authorities and the successful territorial alignment of the project at the European level. With this new initiative, the Group’s presence in Alsace — a region where Liebherr has been active since 1961 — is further strengthened, ensuring the region’s industrial heritage is carried forward with a focus on the future.

Liebherr-EMtec Nambsheim is based on a simple belief, that sustainable industry is underpinned by an organisation that is simple, responsible, transparent and committed to by employees. This new Liebherr Group investment in Alsace is a long-term commitment on the economic, social, societal and environmental levels.
